DECORATION IDEAS FOR YOUR SMALL OR LARGE LOG CHALET!

Summer rimes with the cottage. It often brings us to the cottage, to the log home by the lake, to the retreat in the forest. What we love about summer is taking the time to take a break and recharge our batteries. There is no place like a beautiful log cabin or timber frame to feel connected with nature!

We wanted to share with you some decoration ideas for your small or large log chalets to pay tribute to summer and Quebec artisans.

1. Invite Colours Into Your Cottage!

Cool colours like blue and green are associated with summer cottages. Why not dress up the space by daring to invite colours into your home?

Add coloured accessories (cushions, frames, planters) that you can replace when fall arrives. Bright colours give pep and sparkle to our home. Dare to be daring, while respecting your preferences.

Have fun with friends, family, and pick pretty bouquets of wild or cultivated flowers – in your garden!

2. Throw in Some Summer Throws!

In summer, we sometimes like to snuggle up on the sofa, in a small log cottage in the forest, or in a luxurious secondary home. And even if it’s hot, there’s nothing more comforting than a throw to wrap yourself up in.

Get your hands on a few Turkish towels made of natural materials, in neutral or bright colours, and brighten up your log cabin or log home while inviting comfort, without suffocating heat.
Balmy offers throws and Turkish towels that add style and comfort to summer, both indoors and outdoors. Otherwise, Mini Tipi offers wonderful blankets that will add pep and warmth to your home.

3. Show off Your Sports Equipment!

Until recently, sporting goods and bulky items were not included in the decoration of small cottages. But a new trend is on the horizon: showing off bikes and sporting goods in order to save space and decorate.

Yes! Bikes, surfboards, SUP boards, paddles… Whatever your favorite activity is, the idea is to find a support that offers strength and style, in order to maximize space and gain storage room at the cottage, while decorating the premises. Minimalist supports or wooden frames; by digging a little, you will find what suits you.
You are not too sporty but like the idea? Onquata offers beautiful decorative paddles to add a wow effect to any room! If you haven’t started your architectural plans for your home yet, take the time to talk with your architecture team to see how these ideas can be incorporated.

4. Dress up Your Walls With Summer Themed Frames!

This summer, dare to decorate your log cabin or timber frame house walls with summer-themed frames that will be stored when winter comes. Instead of completely redecorating the chalet or country house, allow yourself a gallery wall that can be changed with the seasons.

Print memories of family vacations and happy summer days as you go, and change the photos to suit your vibe! What better way to feel at home than to reminisce about the good times spent on vacation? If you still have an old Polaroid, make yourself a hanging photo banner that you can refresh with no fuss.

Hang the drawings of toddlers and adults on it. You don’t need a lot of space to create temporary works of art. With a little imagination, you will have a corner as vibrant as summer. You’ll be the master of your own popup exhibit!
